The Rodney T. Mathews, Jr. Memorial Academic & Vocational Scholarship Program for Morongo Tribal Members

Purpose

The Rodney T. Mathews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Program has been established to assist Tribal Members with pursuing their education by granting financial scholarships. Scholarships shall be awarded to eligible applicants yearly as long as funds are available.

Eligibility

Tribal Members are eligible for one (1) Bachelor's degree, one (1) Master's degree, and one (1) Doctoral degree, and/or one (1) Vocational Program, subject to Scholarship Fund budget limitations.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be an enrolled Tribal Member of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians to receive Tribal Member education funding.
  2. For an academic scholarship, the applicant must be a full or part-time student at an accredited College or University. For a vocational scholarship, the applicant must be a full or part-time student at a Vocational school. 
  3. Must complete The Rodney T. Mathews, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Application and be in good standing with the Morongo Education Services Administrator under the Morongo Scholarship Terms and Conditions. 
  4. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all undergraduate students and/or vocational students and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all graduate students. 

 

NOTE:

  • Tribal Member Students continuing their education are exempt from annual reapplication and are required to submit official transcripts once a year (every Fall term).
  • Tribal Member Students must update their application upon commencing a new program.
